Hi, well I haven't really fallen, more of a stumble. I received gmc2's gracious gift of my CS4, but, I alas, cannot open it. Yes, I know I said I love it. Nothings changed there, but the opening.

Here are my particulars...  AMD Athlon (tm)  7750 Dual Core Proccessor, 2.70 GHZ   Ram_4.00 GB  (3.50) useable.  [ram may be important, for lack of space?]   Windows 7 Home Premium.  Direct X11. Active X 64 bit. ATI Radeon HD 3200 Graphics

I place my CS4 cd in my pc, go to my C:\ folder area and find my CS4 in DVD RW Drive (D:) automatically. Then I dble click PS setup but, instead of opening the page gets transparent? Or I get  install with Adobe setup.exe.  But, it doesn't work.  I checked Tweak 7 and it said Adobe is awaiting input or hung? Then asks force termination? yes or no.  I've tried downloading CS4 trials but, there are non. Only CS5 trials out there....   I'm at a loss. I've tried Everything. Does anyone know what I can do?

Thank-you

This is CS4 11.0,  download is 1.3 GB .

If the disc is an original Adobe disk, and there are no surface defects on it IROKONESS, then the problem is in either your hardware or software. Can you play cd's/DVD's without problems? If you can, then the problem is either in your software or your OS.

If this isn't a copied disk, (or even if it is) why isn't Autorun not initiating your installation process? You can find out how to enable Autorun here:

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/27544-autoplay-enable-disable-autorun.html

Do you have any program disabling installation?

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Troubleshoot-installing-or-uninstalling-programs

Installing in Safe Mode:

This requires editing the registry, and I can guide to how to do that (if yrag doesn't happen by sooner) but test the above first, OK?

*Try to download cs4 from Frankief's link and then register it with the license gmc2 sent you. The download is 1.3 Gb, not 130 Gb*

disc is not a copied version but an original, sent in the original case with the product ID.

send you another.

it was for free, just the cost of postage.

again, it did load on my system (win7, 64bit) but I like my PSP7 better cause it is familiar and decided not to use it after I reformatted my hard drive. thought it best to give it away rather than let it collect dust.

IROKONESS, if you have a friend with a better system than your's, you might attempt to load on their machine.

gmc2 you did a wonderful thing giving the software away to someone that can use it if you no longer need it. I guess the main problem I have is when the actual contents of the disc are read a setup.exe is no where to be found. I have just read 3 programs on disc I have and they all have a setup.exe. Doesn't mean my thinking is correct but there has to be some .exe in the contents of any disc even a autorun disc. I don't know enough to say reformat the computer and then it will install but it is something I may have tried but noot even sure of that with no setup.exe to be found. So I will be very interested to find out what the problem actually is because i'm at a lost if the disc is a good one. One other thing, does Adobe know it was installed on one computer already and just won't install on another. I do know the older versions don't care but things have changed with new versions as security has gotton much tighter.

IROKONESS:  I've researched this and a lot of people have had similar problems with CS4 installation, and I mean a lot.

It appears to be a bug with Java.

You can get the setup.exe  file here:

http://www.filestube.com/a/adobe+photoshop+cs4+setup+exe

All you need look at is the top 4 files and I'd choose the verified one.

Right now I'm downloading Frankief's link, 2.5 hours download time left.  And Doc, yes I'll do exactly what you last said.

And Greg, I would be inclined to think it's my machine except, I haven't any problems with it.  I'm very glad you recommend I post. It must be just

glich or something similar.

The download is going nicely. I just noticed that on the FireFox bottom bar, it says download time 25 min. left.  I'm rooting for that one.

Frankief, I don't know where you found that download, but I believe it's exactly the kickstart this software needs. The full program is all there.

It's the .exe. And That's it right there.  (crossing my fingers)

No way Doc.   I'm gone to check it out!

Here's a link to the update for CS4

http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4292

Do that after you finish installing.

on Feb 15, 2011

Hopefully (my fingers crossed too) Doc's research will solve your problem. If you've never used PS before then disregard my suggestion.

on Feb 15, 2011

OK Doc, I went there and had to buy some download time. Tried the four of them. I went for Download Now. $3.00 for 3 days, one time.

Worth it if that's the one. Downloading cs4 now. Will let you know.

Frankief your download is finished. I will check it now.

on Feb 15, 2011

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you and sorry to hear the problems you've experienced. I don't recall having problems installing the program but I might have had to install it twice and may have installed from the disc instead of an auto install.

if all of the above doesn't work, please do this. open the disc in windows explorer and do a "print screen" of the files and post the picture here in the foums.

on Feb 15, 2011

Will do gmc2. I just ask for some time.

on Feb 15, 2011

OK, I have Setup.exe.

But, it want's to know where to download. It wants to open in Internet Explorer. I have Autoplay Adobe Systems Incorporated waiting. Which one should I use?

It's in zip right now.

I enabled Autoplay for all Doc.

on Feb 15, 2011

Do you have the zip file downloaded? If so allow Adobe's Autoplay to handle it. It will put the files where they belong.
