Hi, well I haven't really fallen, more of a stumble. I received gmc2's gracious gift of my CS4, but, I alas, cannot open it. Yes, I know I said I love it. Nothings changed there, but the opening.

Here are my particulars...  AMD Athlon (tm)  7750 Dual Core Proccessor, 2.70 GHZ   Ram_4.00 GB  (3.50) useable.  [ram may be important, for lack of space?]   Windows 7 Home Premium.  Direct X11. Active X 64 bit. ATI Radeon HD 3200 Graphics

I place my CS4 cd in my pc, go to my C:\ folder area and find my CS4 in DVD RW Drive (D:) automatically. Then I dble click PS setup but, instead of opening the page gets transparent? Or I get  install with Adobe setup.exe.  But, it doesn't work.  I checked Tweak 7 and it said Adobe is awaiting input or hung? Then asks force termination? yes or no.  I've tried downloading CS4 trials but, there are non. Only CS5 trials out there....   I'm at a loss. I've tried Everything. Does anyone know what I can do?

Thank-you

RedneckDude
Try copying it to your desktop and run it from there.

Hi CarGuy1, well, installed the upgrade and did a clean boot. (very cool)   But, still no CS4.   I'm sorta glad it's not me being a total idiot by missing one little thing... sorta.

Philly0381, I have tried the security, shut if off, again. No go.   Thanks though.

I still have to try to download folder. Your suggestion DaveBax. I will be PM ing you.

I want to say that I have to go to the city for a few hours. Will be back after supper. 7:00 pmish.

Thank-you all

Here's a possible cause. When I had PS 7 loaded then installed a trial of CS5 there was a problem after the trial ran out. PS7 no longer worked because the uninstaller I used took out files relevant to PS 7. I thought the uninstall took out all the files when it really didn't so I tried reinstalling PS7 and that didn't work. I had to go in and delete all those remaining files then do a clean install of PS7. Could be there are leftover files if she was using an older version of PS. If so she'll have to go in and delete them. Could that be causing it?

Are you sure the files on the cd are not corrupted?

I loaded the program up so I'm pretty sure the disc is not corrupted, but...

google this: cs4 installation problems

I would try RNDs suggestion of copying the entire DVD to your hard drive in a temp folder and running it from there.

Since there's  no reference to if it is a store bought DVD or a backup, copying the files over would rule out any disc issues. If it copies, the files are probably fine. If it errors out, than the CD player could be dirty, a misaligned laser, or a bad DVD burn.

Hi, I'm back and have created a folder directly from the cd but, again the same. The only .exe I found was in Autorun-notepad. But no access to clicking, just writing like this.   open=Autoplay.exe -auto          icon=Autoplayresdata\ps_appicon_cd_install.ico

Also the Adobe Photoshop CS4 Extended gmc2 sent over is in it's case and has all the logos, colors and such. It cannot be a bad DVD burn. There are quiet a few people having a difficult time of it according to my googling. I will try to google cs4 installation problems Greg.

I've tried hunting down an old version (CS4) and it looks like your not going to find it anywhere. Not sure if this will work or help...but try highlighting the files on the cd and move them to a folder on your pc somewhere and try installing them from there.

The only other solution I can think of is for gmc to mail you the original disc...if he has it and is ok with that...copy the files from there and then mail it back to him. I'm just guessing but it seems as though the copy you have somehow got borked when it was copied.

Oops...double post.

That's right. You even click cs4 trial and it pops up cs5..... Which is why I contacted Greg, and he recommeded I post.

If you guys can't bring it to life, no one can.

I wonder if what Uvah said will have to be done.   Clean,Clean,Clean.

I keep googling.

I kinda doubt that cleaning will make a difference. If you can install other programs you should be able to install this. And like I said...it's my guess the copy you got somehow got borked...which can happen.

Or, it might just be copy protected....

on Feb 15, 2011

IROKONESS. Shoot gmc2 a PM and ask him whether or not it was copied to disc. I' sure he'll remember and perhaps, if it is borked, send you another. Question. Have you used PS before?

on Feb 15, 2011

Cannot believe it's a copied disk.  And, no Uvah, no history with PS.
